. . . for (the very) Extraordinary Desserts in San Diego. His comment on an earlier Sits & Swings post of: “It’s one of the most unforgettable drinks I’ve ever had” (in reference to one of their dessert teas) was pretty convincing. So I googled it.
Chef/founder Karen Krasne studied pastry-making at the Cordon Bleu (Paris), and returns to France regularly to train with masters at Le Notre and Bellouet Conseil. Her desserts have gotten a ton of press, won as many awards, and planted themselves in my mind in the form of a very persistent craving.
We stopped in and true to reviews, it’s no ordinary bakery. Architecturally striking, and playing host to long glass counters filled with endless platings of cakes, tortes, and pastries, I was quite instantly entranced.
These photos from my iphone don’t do it justice, so check out their website (there’s an online store), or stop in for yourself at one of their two locations. You can take your desserts to go like we did, or dine in over a menu that includes paninis, salads, artisan cheeses, and more than 50 different loose-leaf teas.
