I stopped in the middle of the sidewalk when I saw this tree the other day. And not because it was particularly beautiful or because I felt depressed to see it dying. It stopped me because none of the other trees around it had lost their leaves. And I found it oddly, dramatically inspiring. Like this tree wasn’t afraid to let it go and start the slow process of restarting. It felt more like a hopeful step than a dying one.
Of course, it could have just been a gust of wind. But either way, it was nice.
